New Line loses its current space in summer 2011.
Can you help us?
New Line Theatre is in search of a new theatre space, hopefully one where we can
stay for a while, and that can be ready for us before fall 2011. Our ideal would be
a blackbox performance space around 2,000 square feet, plus dressing rooms,
lobby, and a bit of storage space. If we can't find an existing theatre that
works for us, we are open to creating a new space in an existing building -- but
that takes money, so then we'd need some of that too...
Like almost all companies our size, we're never able to
pay the real commercial market value for space, so we need either a very
generous landlord (we've had quite a few of those over the years) or someone
with the money to invest in a space, who isn't looking to make a profit.
One thing that makes our search difficult is
the content of our work. Because we often do shows with adult content and adult
language (and on rare occasions, nudity), we probably can't work in most schools
or buildings with a religious affiliation.
